Surgical technique of the supraorbital key-hole craniotomy.

2003

BACKGROUND The enormous development of microsurgical techniques and instrumentation together with preoperative planning using the excellent preoperative diagnostic facilities available, enables neurosurgeons to treat more complicated diseases through smaller and more specific approaches. METHODS The technical details of the supraorbital key-hole craniotomy are described in this article as it has been evolving in our experience for more than 10 years. After an eyebrow skin incision with careful soft tissue dissection and single frontobasal burr-hole trephination, a supraorbital craniotomy is carried out with a diameter of about 1.5 x 2.5 cm. As a real frontolateral approach, the supraorbital…

Autogenous calvarium bone grafting as a treatment for severe bone resorption in the upper maxilla : a case report

2008

Atrophic maxilla rehabilitation has been the subject of several studies for decades; despite this, there are still many different therapeutic choices for the best way to treat maxillary resorption in order to enable implant placement and integration. These possibilities include the optimal use of remaining bone structures, such as the pterygoid processes or zygomatic arch, which involves using zygomaticus and pterygoid implants in combination with standard implants placed in the residual bone; alternatively, regenerative techniques, alveolar bone expansion/distraction or bone grafting techniques may be used. Severe maxillary atrophy has a multifactorial aetiology; the most important factors…

Fixed rehabilitation of a patient with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia using zygomatic implants

2004

We found few references in the dental literature on implant rehabilitation of patients with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia and only 1 case on zygomatic fixations and maxillary prosthesis in a patient with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia. Two zygomatic fixations were placed according to the sinus slot technique, together with 3 implants in the anterior maxillary region. After 6 months, an upper complete prosthesis was screwed onto the implants, and lower overdentures were placed over the remnant canines. After 18 months of follow-up the patient reported important improvement in oral function and self-esteem.

Material and Methods: Data were collected regarding age, sex, etiology, time distribution, site of the fracture and the associated injuries and evaluated. These patients were treated at Ondokuz Mayıs University Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery between 2003 and 2010. Data were collected from patient files in the archive and were analyzed using SPSS version 20.0 software. Results: A total of 82 patients with 133 mandibular fractures were included in this study. After the follow up period of the patients, the results were achi…

Ein zahngrößen- und gesichtsbreitenbezogener Zahnbogenindex

1994

Taking as its starting point the often postulated criticism of Pont's Index, the intent of the study was to develop a diagnostic procedure which took into consideration the objection that the Pont Index doesn't take the shape of the patient's skull into consideration. On the basis of the data obtained from the models and anthropological measurements of 50 adult subjects with fairly eugnathic dentition, the first step was to follow Pont and study which skull size exhibited the highest correlation to the posterior dental arch. Of all the relevant sizes the zygomatic arch width exhibited the highest correlation. Reference values for the posterior dental arch width, which were obtained with the…
